Thank You!

I just wanted to say thanks to Gail at My repurposed Life and Carrie at Making Lemonade for featuring my yellow nightstand :-)

Also, you may have noticed I haven't posted any new projects for awhile.  Well... we have been having computer issues... Hopefully they will be straightened out soon, and I can share all my ideas with everyone here again!

Sunshiney Waterfall Nightstand

This nightstand has been one of THOSE projects... the ones that you work on here and there and then procrastinate on finishing.

This is how it began its life:
A little scratched, a little marked, and sadly, only one original pull.  I purchased it at an auction in late august.  I definitely filled my car up that day.  To see all the other goodies  I scored that day, you can click here.

I envisioned it a sunny yellow colour.  The colour I chose was Summer Harvest by Behr.  But, I had it colour matched with Martha Stewart paint.  I found that I had trouble getting good coverage... not sure if it's the colour yellow, or the paint, as that was the first time I have tried Martha Stewart paint.  Have you had any success with the Martha Stewart paint?

Alas, it is finished.

I'm sorry, but I just have to point out my Canada Dry bottle... it has the perfect shade of turquoise on it.  I found it on a hike at Mono Cliffs, quite a few years ago and it's always moving around to different areas of my house...as do a lot of my other decorations, too.

New hardware was added,

and I lined it with some more of my Dollarama special shelf liner.

I am not always a fan of waterfall style furniture, but this piece definitely has cute feet. What do you think?

Vintage Plaque Makeover- And a "Just Because" Giveaway

I happened upon this cute roll of vintage advertising wallpaper last week.
(The wallpaper has been cut up in this picture)
I just couldn't resist it. I knew it would be perfect as drawer liner, and I thought maybe I could even use a few of the ads individually. Then I saw a stack of old wooden plaques... and a lightbulb went off.

Once I had the plaque home, I had to get the old picture off. It was just a cardboard print by hallmark. So, I got it nice and wet and went to work on it with a paint scraper. I think it took me about a half hour to get it all off. Then I gave it a good sanding and painted it black. I chose the cologne ad because it was the perfect size and glued it right down. The black paint got some distressing, because, of course, I was going for the vintage look.

Here it is all done up. I have a couple more plaques and loads of the wallpaper, so this one may end up in the Etsy shop.

How about you? Would you like to make your own vintage advertising sign? I have decided to give to one lucky reader a complete set of all the ads. They would also make great wall art.

Don't you just love that bicycle one?

The Giveaway will run from today until October 18th at 8:00 A.M. So, you've got just over a week to get your entry's in.
To Enter:

Number 3

I'm not sure what to think about this chair....

This is how it started out... rather gross (you can't see all the dirt in this picture...)  and kinda ugly.
Being rather dirty, it got a good bath with Shaklee's Germicide.

Black EndTable

Well, this piece was not originally going to be black.  I was thinking that it would be lovely in white... that seems to be my favorite colour.  However, the top was so bad that I had to sand it down to the bare wood.  As soon as I applied the primer, it instantly turned pink. Now, normally I like pink, but not so in this case! So, I decided it wasn't going to be worth my effort to apply an infinite number of white coats and so black it became.  I am actually happy with how it turned out and think it looks kind of classy.  There may be more black paint in my future!

Here is a before picture.  I shared this picture before in this post.
As you can see, it was a very reddish wood.
